SUNY Binghamton East Campus Housing

The SUNY East Binghamton Campus Housing Phases 1, 2, 3 & 4 construction project included 3,000 beds of student housing in eight residence halls, support and a collegiate center. The first phase of the project included the ACM abatement of 3 existing dormitory buildings and the demolition of the 3 existing dormitory buildings and one small garage (Harpurs Ferry). The second phase included the construction of a 4 stall garage and associated living quarters to replace the demolished small garage, and the construction of four new 6-story residential dormitory buildings of approximately 380 beds each, utility relocations, site work and utilities for the new dorm buildings. Phase three included a new collegiate center with dining facilities, a late night cafe, meeting spaces, lounges, residential community offices, and a computer center. The last phase of the project involved replacing and relocating the Dickinson residential complex, including four new buildings and a separate recreational field, basketball and volleyball courts, and additional site amenities. Landon & Rian, Inc. (L & R) worked with our client DASNY (Dormitory Authority, State of New York) and LeChase Construction to conduct numerous informational presentations over the four (4) phases of the project to regional (Binghamton & Syracuse) MWBE firms and community groups to present them with initial project information, schedule updates, bidding opportunities and the project’s MWBE & EEO goals. L & R performed Compliance Monitoring services during the construction of the four (4) phases of the project. L & R monitored forty-four (44) prime contractors and eight-two (82) subcontractor’s progress towards the achievement of the MWBE business participation utilization and Minority/Women EEO workforce participation diversity goals. L & R provided monitoring, tracking and reporting of both the professional services (Program Manager, Architects, & Construction Managers) and construction services (General Contractors and MEP Contractors).
